COMPAGNIE BESSON

From north to south, from east to west, our collective leads you for a trip with the continuation of our first recording " Fibule ". we are leaning on the experience of various meeting, various world, we make them mix with, get used, in order that our music always stay a land of discovery and opportunity. There is still a lot of roads to exploit for all these instruments which too often have the habit to partition in a field.

Rachel AVERLY :

flutes, voices, accordion

Since her childhood, she has got familiar with traditional music through various music and dance training

In 1989, she starts learning to play the flute at the national school of music in Cluny. ,

then in in Macon, and at least in Vichy where she got a master of flute in 2001. . During all these years, her taste for traditional music grew along with her taste for classical music. She takes advantage of it:

She joins the COMPAGNIE BESSON in 1994.

Since 1998, she teaches the flute in various schools of her residential area.

Philippe BESSON :

hurdy gurdy, voices

He begins his musical studies with classical piano at the age of six and then he gives it up at 12 ,

for the hurdy gurdy. Philippe's musical trip leads him to the

world of Berrichon and Bourbonnais folklore where he starts his apprenticeship.

He contributes to a number of recordings.

In 1986, he wins, in regional award of Auvergne for young musicians, as a member of duo.

He starts a single carrier which aims at musical creation : His first recording "Air Libre"

comes out in Christmas 1992. He continues his musical experience from 1993 to 98 as

musician and musical manager in a band creating traditional dances.

In 1994, the "COMPAGNIE BESSON " is created.

classical, jazz, ball... This band is dedicated, to the musical creation of a

new style for the Bourbonnais : to do a music with recent creations and a

traditional structure using musical instruments. . In 1997, the band comes out a recording, “ ISIS “ and wins the first prize of the international meetings of Sancoins In 1999, he publishes under his

name a recording dedicated to the dance: "EXCLUSIVEMENT DANSE!! Philippe

Besson traditional music “. In 2000, the COMPAGNIE BESSON publishes "FIBULE

musique traditionnelle contemporaine du Bourbonnais" .

Philippe is the owner of the first Alto hurdy gurdy created specially for him by Jean-Claude BOUDET in 2000.

DD BROUSSET PIERRIS :

Bass

Self-educated, he discovers the acoustic guitar and the bass in 1973. Since 1975, he

has produced himself in the Paris area, with various bands (Rock and other). He

especially accompanied "Serge BOUTANQUOI" (folk song). In 1980, He has moved in

Auvergne, and has been playing in several local orchestras since 1981. He also takes

part in other experiences from 1980 to 1990. He joins the COMPAGNIE BESSON in February 2000.

He comes out a CD with the NARADA band.

Denis MOCHET :

drums

Originally from Bourgogne area, he starts the drums at the age of 13, as self-educated,

by playing in several local orchestras, and different band. In 1990,

he decides to dedicate himself to music. He takes part in various artistic

projects, such as dance shows, theatrical creations, jazz, international

variety and Cuban music. His experience leads him to record several CD's,

especially, in 1996, "Les Ch'tits du Jazz", chosen by Télérama among the 20

best CD's for children, of the year.

In 1997, he joins the Compagnie Besson, with whom he records "Fibule", in

1998.

Emmanuel TOURNY

bag pipes

He starts the bagpipe, in 1991, at the age of 11, after listening to the

sounds of that instrument in his neighbour's house. Since 1994, he has joined

different art and traditional music bands.

In June 2000, he gets the master of Chateauroux traditional music . He

wins the first prize in single of the Gannat contest, and the second prize

in duet of Saint Chartier. Since 1998, he has taught bagpipe. He joins

the COMPAGNIE BESSON in august of that same year.
