This work began in 1993 on the initiative of trumpetist Claude MOLENAT who looked to write a work using the same instruments as originally used by SAINTSAENS for his celebrated "Septuor op.65 ".

Three movements, or rather three moments, are subdivided into small autonomous pieces in the same united spirit of inspiration.

The first movement, "Evocations", pays homage to a few great french composers, from Couperin to Ravel to Poulenc...

"La Ballade" in the second movement is marked by thematic and constructive unity, enhanced nostalgia and reverie in an abandonment of musical mystery.

The conclusion of the suite, "La Creole", testfles to the Caribbean origins of the composer The power of the rhythm expresses the flavors of south-America and the Caribbean, firmly rooted in the souls of these regions.

The bold juxtaposition coming from the different elements of the musical materials, added to the instrumental virtuosity required by the basic idea, drives the rhythm to a frenetic conclusion.
